Pastor - Steve Beard

Stephen was called as our Pastor in September of 2017. He and his wife, Amy, were married in June 1988 and together have been blessed with three sons, Joey, Chris and Declan. Stephen and Amy have two super grandchildren, Colton and Makayla.

Stephen served in various roles in the church before surrendering to God’s call to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was ordained at First Baptist Church, Arcadia in 2014. Stephen is a graduate from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Training and experience have built a strong commitment to the local church into Stephen’s heart and he is passionate about helping people discover the immense joy to be had in being a follower of Christ. Steve seeks to be a passionate communicator of God’s Word, to encourage people on to serious discipleship, and to foster a love for the Gospel that seeks to spread the name of Jesus.

Philemon 1:6 "I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ."



Worship Leader - Keith Beard

Bro. Keith has served in several churches over the past 20+ years as a bi-vocational minister of music.

He retired June 30, 2018, from the school system after 34 years of working as a teacher, coach, counselor, assistant principal, and principal.

 His son Jesse and wife Chandler live in Monroe, and his daughter Ragan is a senior at La. Tech, majoring in elementary education. Bro. Keith’s pride and joy is his beautiful little red-headed, blue-eyed granddaughter, Lucy.

He enjoys camping, hiking, and working on his 106 year-old house. Bro. Keith is also an avid runner, and enjoys exercising daily.

Secretary/Clerk   - Phillis Jones

Phillis and Bobby joined Calvary Baptist Homer in early 2006 after a permanent move from Downsville, La. Phillis (or Nan as she is lovingly known) was hired in 2009 as the Church Secretary/Clerk. Bobby (also known as “Bop”) maintains the grounds and helps with the building maintenance. They have three children; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren scattered from Alaska to Florida.

Phillis came to Calvary by way of Cedar Crest Baptist, West Monroe. After retiring from Glenwood Med. Center, Accounting Dept., Phillis was asked to serve her church as the church financial secretary in lieu of a church treasurer. She served here until their final move to Homer.

“I believe my gift, received from the Lord, is that of an encourager to people. I strive to be a friend and comfort to others and to encourage them in their daily lives. God has blessed us with our ministry at Calvary where we will continue to serve as long as God allows us to do so.”
